My Role

Solo contracted client based project for Atigro LLC. WT-Mobile App

Guided by CEO: Ken Fischer

Area of Focus

Product Strategy + UI Design

PROBLEM

Whiting-Tuners Workers Struggled to finalize their assigned tasks

The WT-Crews, workers who deal with constant flooding of tasks, are some of the busiest people on the planet. Despite the hectic work orders and job tasks, they still manage to push through to get as much work done as possible—and, ahem, fear leaving tasks unfinished.

However, I've also noticed, although they'd sacrifice their sleep, time, and energy towards their career, they failed to memorize every single day to day work tasks. To these workers in their late 40s to early 50s, memorizing and keep track of all these overwhelming job tasks feels like a never ending storm. How was there this disconnect in their lives?

"How might we allow workers to finish tasks productively and not feel overwhelmed?"

SOLUTION

Priority List is Key

  • Increase productivity by having the most important task done early

  • Provides a clear sense of direction and task details to avoid confusion

  • Avoid consequences of forgetting tasks at the end of the day

My Design Process

Navigating Iconography Challenges: As the design process unfolded, a challenge emerged regarding the color scheme for icons. The client favored orange, while accessibility standards advocated for a more universal color. In response, I introduced a visual breadcrumb trail, seamlessly integrating the desired orange hue. This not only addressed the accessibility concern but also added a distinctive touch to the navigation experience.

User-Centric Registration and Ordering: To enhance user understanding, a strategic decision was made to implement a user registration system. Inspired by color psychology, distinct hues like baby blue and light green were assigned to rental, yard goods, and services. This not only clarified the registration process but also added a subtle touch of distinction to each category.

Efficient Categories and Real-time Status Checks: The categorization buttons were meticulously arranged to create a clear visual hierarchy, enhancing user navigation. Secondary buttons complemented this arrangement, contributing to an intuitive interface. A feature allowing real-time status checks on items was seamlessly integrated, adding transparency and building user trust.

Collaboration at the Core: At the project's inception, collaboration was our guiding principle. Working alongside Atigro's design team, our virtual sessions were dynamic exchanges of ideas. Our goal was clear: optimize the user experience. Taking a cue from Amazon's successful interface for ordering and address changes, we aimed to replicate that efficiency, tailoring it to the unique needs of Whiting Tuner.

Simultaneous Design and Development Journey: The beauty of this project lies in the synchronicity of design and development. It's been a unique opportunity, and I'm genuinely grateful to have steered both aspects in tandem. Collaborating with Whiting Tuner allowed me not only to shape the design but also to seamlessly critique and guide our web developer's work. This dynamic interaction ensured that design concepts evolved hand-in-hand with the development process, keeping us precisely on track throughout this transformative journey.
